Deadlines, accepted documents, languages, sworn certification, legalisation, forensic expertise and payment: answers to the questions I am asked most often. For a figure, send your document — the quote is free.
Request a quoteA standard document (birth certificate, marriage certificate, criminal record extract, diploma) is translated, certified and dispatched within 48 to 72 working hours of receipt. Longer documents — judgments, notarial deeds, expert files — need extra time, stated in the quote. An urgent option is available for tight deadlines.
All official documents: civil-status records (birth, marriage, death), criminal record extracts, diplomas and transcripts, notarial deeds, court judgments and decisions, prefecture and nationality documents, and company documents. Simply send the document you hold; I tell you free of charge, before the quote, which ones are actually required.
Translations are provided to and from French, English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. These are the combinations covered by my sworn appointment at the Versailles Court of Appeal. For any other language I tell you honestly rather than accept a file I cannot certify.
A sworn translation is produced by a translator formally appointed to a French Court of Appeal. It bears the translator's stamp, signature and registration details, which makes it legally valid before French authorities: town halls, prefectures, courts, the central civil-status registry and consulates. A plain, uncertified translation has no such value. See also the sworn translation page.
Legalisation or an apostille applies to the original document, not to the translation, and depends on the destination country. Some countries require a Hague apostille, others legalisation by the consulate or the relevant ministry. I flag from the outset of your file what is required, so that you avoid unnecessary steps.
Yes. As a court expert at the Versailles Court of Appeal, I take on civil expert opinions and translations in connection with legal proceedings — documents filed as evidence, service of process, bailiff deeds. Interpreting is also possible for hearings and administrative appointments, subject to availability. Payment deadlines for court-ordered expert opinions are set by the court.
You first receive a free, precise quote based on your document. No rates are published: the price depends on the nature and length of the text. Once accepted, the invoice is settled on receipt, as promptly as possible. A free quote is sent within 24 hours: simply send your document.
